I learned a very valuable lesson this morning while scraping the ice off of my windshield. Here are a few tips:
1. Uggs may be warm, comfortable, and stylish, but they lack decent grip.
2. Don't wear a white sweatshirt while attempting to clean off your car. It will be ruined.
3. Wear gloves. Seriously.
4. When you scrape the ice off, it doesn't disappear. The ice chunks actually retain their icy characteristics and fall into a neat formation at your feet.
5. Those ice chunks are slippery.
6. When you fall, don't go elbow first.
Really.

Lessons learned...
As my first semester draws to a close, I am reflecting upon what I've learned. I learned many, many useless Biology terms. I learned that dropping a class is okay, especially a class that's impossible. I've learned that switching your major is also okay...here I come, Psychology!
I've greatly honed my grammatical skills in German. OH! I just took the oral part of my German final with my partner Maggie. We NAILED it! As long as I can pull off a B or better on the written final tomorrow, I will pass German with an A! Wish me luck!
I have learned how to deal with people you can't stand, and how to make the best of many situations!
Best of all, today I learned how to be a con artist. I spent almost 400 dollars on books in the beginning of the year. 4 of these books were purchased on Amazon.com for no more than 10 dollars a piece. Today you can sell your books back to the school for half of what the school charged. Well, the school thinks it charged me 10 dollars for Antigone, so they paid me 5 dollars back for it. Truthfully, I paid $2 dollars on Amazon! The holidays can bring out the worst in people, haha.
I'm going to spend the rest of my day packing up clothes, food, and whatever else I need to bring home with me. I don't know why everybody stresses at finals time. It's the most fun I've had all semester! Haha...

Thursday, December 6
Well then...
I'm sick, just like everybody else this time of year. I think most people on campus are sick not only due to the snow and cold weather, but also because next week is finals week. We are all antsy to go home, eat real food, and be with our families.
Anyways, back to the sick part. So I woke up around 3 a.m. super congested and started coughing and sneezing a lot. Have you ever coughed and like, puked? No, ofcourse not. That's not normal. I guess.
I don't remember getting down from my loft the normal, strategical way I normally do. I couldn't jump on my roomie's bed to get down cause she was sleeping in it. I honesty think I just bombed it over the side, rolled, got to my feet, and threw myself at the sink all in one swift motion.
I was so embarassed, and I don't really know why. I guess when you're roommates for a year you're bound to see eachother sick. I turned to see if she was staring at me or laughing or something. Nope, sound asleep. No idea.
You know what else I hate? When your upper lip joins forces with your nose. It's becomes one big chapped wasteland which you smear with chapstick, only to find it doesn't help.
I don't know what prompted me to blog such a disgusting post. But that's what those of you get for telling me I don't blog enough. This is why. I have nothing to blog ABOUT!
I'm going to go make a giant belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream on it. Yay lunch!

Short...in more than one way...
Please make note that my hair ACTUALLY curled itself. Many people would kill for these natural curls. I, on the other hand, despised them.
Until now.
I seriously got out of the shower, brushed my hair, and started my homework. Around 9:00, I decided to brush my hair again and actually take a look in the mirror.
Do you know how much time I will save in the mornings? I don't have to do ANYTHING to my hair! I'm going to save money, too. No more using half a bottle of conditioner per shower! As much as I love my long hair, I don't know if i'll EVER go back.
I'm going to work hard to keep my hair this healthy! No wearing pony tails every single day. Use heat guard when flat ironing and blow drying. Splurge on GOOD shampoo and conditioner from Fantastic Sam's. Use a good brush. you get the idea! Oh, the best part? It fits SO MUCH BETTER in my hockey helmet without giving me extreme helmet hair!
So yeah...I'm pretty excited about it, but I'm more excited to crawl into bed. Goodnight.
___________________UPDATE!___________________
Alright so today I decided to straighten my hair. This helps to see how much length I really lost (approx. 6 inches).

Hard Fighting Blazers Defeated by 'Jackets 4-0
11/04/2007
The College of Saint Benedict’s (0-2-0 overall) rematch against the University of Wisconsin-Superior (2-0-0 overall) resulted in another win for the Yellowjackets. The final score at the away game in Wessman arena on Sunday November 4 was 4-0. Blazers competed hard against Superior but just were not prepared enough.
The teams remained in a standstill until 12 minutes and 30 seconds into the first period when Yellowjacket’s Lindsey LeGree was assisted by Kirsti Hakala in a goal. The Blazers defense managed to hold them off until the second period when Gina Baranzelli shot and scored. Opponents Jasmine Pollock and Teagan Cassan both completed a goal in the third period to end the game up by four.
Blazer’s goalie Amanda Plumm (Lake Elmo, Minn.) took the net for all 60 minutes and had an astonishing 49 saves. That was 35 more then Superior’s goalie Rikki Nespor with 14.
The Blazers are now looking forward to three home games in a row and getting ready for their first one of the season against Robert Morris College. This game will take place in the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud, Minn. on Thursday November 8. Face-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

I will most likely not be participating in that game. I'm lucky if I get to practice today or tomorrow. I got taken out with 7 minutes left in the game after making a save and hit the ice pretty hard. I've got a quarter-sized bruise on my jaw that conveniently looks like a hickey. My back is literally in knots, and my right ankle took a good twist. I spent last night icing and elevating my swollen foot, and I see the trainer in exactly 20 minutes to decide if I need to be on crutches for the day or not. I may have had a good performance, but i'm bummed that I got hurt in the first game! Oh well, it could have been a lot worse.
Mom, dad, Uncle Kevin and my younger cousins Allison and Payton made the trip up to Superior to watch me play. That was really fun to have them standing nearby to support me at my first game. Richard and Erin continue to be my biggest fans, promising to come to all the games, whether I play or not! I was surprisingly calm going into it..i thought my nerves would get the best of me!

"You are the weakest link!"
There is a good reason as to why I have not blogged in a long time. For the last week and a half I have been getting up at 5 a.m. for hockey training. No, not practice. Training.
Uphill sprinting, downhill sprinting, flatland sprinting. Lot's of sprinting. Long distance running, weight lifting, plyometrics, agility training, weight vests, etc. You get the picture.
I have found myself to be more out of shape than I thought I was, so aside from dry land, I have been spending 30-45 minutes in the gym doing a cardio workout. Last weekend Kailey and I went to the AMAZING new gym in Woodbury on Commerce Drive called Hästa. (across from Sam's club.) I got in an hour of cardio and an additional half hour of weight lifting.
Besides good muscle tone and dropping a few pounds, what does one get from all of this?
Thank god I'm home for the rest of the week and have some time to rest up. Although I could challenge Richard to a race to the end of the driveway and back to see who the biggest gimp is. I just got an image of the host of that game show "The Weakest Link" staring me in the face.
"You are the biggest gimp. Goodbye!"

Fortune Cookie: The Essence of Life (Literally)
There are tornadoes running rampant in the St. Cloud area today, along with insane downpour, wind, and even some hail. I never took tornadoes seriously until today. Growing up in Hudson, the tornadoes never made it past the St. Croix River. I forget now that I'm in the flat lands, ha ha.
It was so windy that the rain was going sideways, and tree branches weren't just falling, they were falling and drifting left and right. After I finished my Biology test (yeah, that didn't go over so well, despite my 5 hours of studying), I was walking back to the buses and saw that a lightning strike had set one of the St. John's freshman dorm complexes on fire. I knew I smelled something burning during my test...I guess it wasn't just the gears grinding in my head.
Thank god I got on the bus when I did...because 10 minutes later and we would have been forced off the road. The tornado made a straight shot east from St. John's campus to St. Ben's. So it was literally only a few minutes behind our bus. From what I've heard there was no wind damage to either campus, just the lightning and flood damage at St. John's.
I got to the cafeteria, grabbed a plate from Mongo Grill (it's JUST like Ghingis Grill in the cities), and sat down with Annalie. Security busts through the door shouting orders to get in the basement, leave all food behind, blah blah blah. So we do, and all I could manage to take with me was my fortune cookie. *sigh* All I could think about in that claustrophobic basement was how cold my french onion soup was getting :(
I like to believe that my fortune cookie brought me good luck, and deterred the storm. Had I not grabbed my cookie in desperation of subsiding my hunger pangs, who knows what would be left of St. Ben's, or, alas, the Mongo Grill.
So anyways, to sum up my story...
The good news: everybody lived, yay!
The bad news: my food was cold when I finally got to sit down to eat it.

Between a rock and a hard place...
I have been studying for tomorrow's Biology test since 7 pm. I have taken ONE break, and that was for dinner. (They say you should take study breaks every now and then.)
I was so frustrated that I was not understanding my professor's lectures that I decided to read each and every word of the chapters included on the upcoming test.
I am now even more frustrated that I wasted SO MUCH TIME trying to interpret this woman when the book made the exact same concept 10392409324 times easier!
My other classmates have expressed the same frustration as I have, so I decided to go to www.ratemyprofessor.com to see what others thought of her. I don't want to use her name, but I will report that out of 5, she received a discouraging 1.8 efficiency rating. She is a very kind, caring woman, but she is so scatterbrained that nobody can understand her. I find it important to note that she calls things "sexy", which I find to be HILARIOUS. IE: When her PowerPoint presentation didn't do what she wanted it to, she explained to us that the reasoning behind it was, "It thinks I'm trying to do something really sexy, but I'm not!" The lady must be about 60, and resembles Mrs. Puff, the driving instructor off of SpongeBob Squarepants. If you've never seen the show, click here and get your kicks.
So, it is now half past midnight, and I am thanking the Lord that I have a late class tomorrow and can sleep until 9. I should be up studying for another hour or so. Why, you may ask, did I not begin studying sooner? HOCKEY. Yeah, can you believe that I still have to work Lacrosse and Volleyball games into the mix? College is fun, but it has skewed my perception of free time. I consider free time to be the minutes I spend walking between classes, making a phone call (usually to Mom). Or driving to hockey practice. That, my friends, is my free time. I wish I had time to scan Facebook, download music, or even watch that TV that I just HAD TO HAVE in my dorm room.
Don't get me wrong, I love some of the changes that college has already instilled in me. I love my new(er) sense of time management, renewed self-esteem, feeling of immense responsibility, and holy crap, my motivation level has shot through the roof.
I'm always doing homework in my spare time. I feel accomplished afterwards, only to realize that it never really ends, haha. My other sense of motivation? Cleaning. I'm ALWAYS cleaning things. My desk, my backpack, my car, the furniture, etc.
I'm not having the college experience like you see in the movies or hear about from other people (that's what you get for going to a small private school), but I am having a lot of fun, and so far I have no regrets what-so-ever.
So, I'm heading back to studying. This concludes study break #2--Blogathon.

Well Ain't This Cozy...
Actually, it is! I moved into my dorm today at St. Bens, and I was extremely suprised by the amount of open space we have! I don't really know what to say, so I took some pictures. (I promised Erin I would.)
My HUGE closet! I can't believe how much space there is...
Each room has a sink, but that's about it.
Our forbidden accessory that we just had to have!
My bed...not much head space!
This is the view from the doorway...
This is the "living area".
The bed situation...I decided to loft.
My Desk :)

The Heart of the Matter
It looks as though I have discovered the source of all of my auto troubles. Okay well, maybe the Saturn mechanics discovered it...Whatever.
My car has been chug-a-lug-lugging along now for about 2 weeks, and finally we took it to the Saturn dealership today for a diagnostic check thingy.Yup, you've got a bad timing chain. That will be $1200.00, please.
Now, in any other circumstance, I would call Richard in 2.8 seconds flat and we would plan a magical weekend filled with fixing my car and perhaps a trip to BWW or playing some video games. In reality, he works on my car, and Erin and I watch tv, make wontons, or shop the day away. I feel guilty. Given the fact that he is rather helpless at this point, I think I will pick up some wings on Saturday on my way back from Blaine and we will have that weekend we've been meaning to spend together. He deserves it!
So my car will remain undriven until I find somebody to fix it. So far, Jared looks like my best candidate, which is awesome because he is my 3rd brother for sure. What a guy, i'm telling you!
Perhaps I should pick him up a few wings too.
Everybody loves wings.

The fuses blow out one by one, hoorah, hoorah!
My car is either sick, or it's revolting agaist me for refusing to feed it premium fuel anymore, or take it through a weekly car wash.
Lastnight, Brandon and I drove my car out to St. Louis Park to play some pick-up hockey. When we got back, I tried to put the windows up, and they didn't budge. Through his laughter, he managed to call me a gimp, and reached up to close the sunroof. Nothing.
I, ofcourse, freaked out because my windows wouldn't go up. I wasted no time in calling Richard, despite the fact that it was 11 pm, and Brandon was already digging in the fuse panel, assessing the problem. I sat there while my windshield wipers wiped, lights flashed, radio blinked, horn honked, trunk went *CLUNK* as it popped open, all without me touching a single thing.
Finally, the windows just went up on their own.
About a month ago, my radio lights just stopped working. Richard replaced the radio and we called it good.
A week ago, my cigarette lighter decided to stop working. Now I have to charge my cell phone at work, or even the tanning salon while I bask, just so I can keep up my texting habits and it doesn't die on me in the middle of the day.
2 nights ago, my dash lights turned off for like 5 minutes. I restarted my car, and they were fine again.
I'm going to start taking bets on what goes out next!

Current (and Not So Current) Events
So, I haven't blogged in awhile cause I stayed in Lakeville all last week to watch my Aunt's house/psycho cat, and I couldn't get my computer to connect to the wireless connection there! 1 whole week without internet access, except for work I guess.
I decided to go up to Stone Lake, WI on the 4th of July to spend some time with the family. It occured to me that it was probably going to be the last time the entire family was together before I leave for college in August...
I convinced Brandon to accompany me up North, partly so I didn't have to drive :) He needed to make an appearance with the family anyways. For those of you who don't know who Brandon is--he's my boyfriend of just under 2 years, and still going strong. :) The weather turned out to be BEAUTIFUL, and we swam the day away, stopping only to eat or reposition the pontoon on the lake. I, surprisingly, got a bit of a burn on my arms. Correction, my ARM. Yeah, only the right arm burned, not the left. Whatever that means...
I lost my favorite sunglasses in the lake!! I did a sommersault underwater, forgetting I had them on, and *BLOOP*, gone. I would have dove after them, but trying to open your eyes in a murky lake when you have contacts does NOT feel very good. I replaced my lost sunglasses with a new pair when Brandon and I decided to go shopping on Saturday at the Rosedale Mall.
I spent my entire weekend in St. Paul with him, so there's not much to report for that. Just shopping, hockey, and movies.
There is much more that happened between my last blog and this new post...but I can't remember! I'll update later.

Windshield Woes...Part 2
He came back--my knight in shining armor! He was back for a very brief 10 minutes. I moved my car for him, and he proceeded to remove my windshield. I got the phone call 5 minutes later.
Him: "I hate to inform you, but I don't have the moldings or seals for your windshield for another 45 minutes."
Me: "That's okay, I don't plan on going to lunch for awhile yet."
Him: "Well that's convenient, then! I am going to go do a few other jobs in the area. I'll be back in about 2 hours to complete the job."
Wait, what? What happened to 45 minutes?
So my poor baby is sitting in the parking lot, still sporting a cracked windshield, and some bright blue tape.
I had big plans for lunch today. BIG PLANS. I had a hot date with an Italian on regular bread at Potbelly's.

Windshield Woes...
My winshield is cracked, perfectly at eye level. This is annoying.
The glass company came out this morning, right on schedule, only to discover that he had the wrong piece of glass for my car. He had glass to fit a Saturn SL1. I drive a Saturn LS1. Thats like Ford creating a Focus and a Fokus. It's a fine line, you see...
So I have to wait until Thursday morning to get my windshield replaced..
UNLESS
It doesn't rain today.
Last time I checked, it was super humid outside, and there was a nice, dark cloud cover.

Keep your cube to yourself...
Okay, so I quite enjoy my little cube here at Kuehne+Nagel. I decorated it nicely, I keep it tidy and organized, and I adorned it with my iHome so I have some tunes during the day. I always keep it low so it can't be heard in the cube next to me...I thought this was just common policy/courtesy.
I work in exports, run by 8 women, 2 men, and 1 questionable other. However, my desk is located in imports, where I am the ONLY girl in this section of the building. (This is essential.)
So, the guy on the end of my row, (4 cubes down) continues to play music at a more than adequate level. Some days it's country, so I don't mind.
Today is AC/DC day.
Most people know that I cannot STAND AC/DC because of the singers screaming, raspy, strangled voice. Of course, who is going to say anything to this guy--I sit with a bunch of guys!
Our cubes are not your typical cubes--no high walls to shield you from the person next to you. The walls between each cube are roughly 2 feet tall--just enough to know when your neighbor's beady little eyes have fallen upon you...
So, I guess my question is, do I say something, or do I just turn mine up louder? My iHome is capable of some serious volume, I could take him. I keep mine unusually low, in case the "Barbie Girl" or "I Like Big Butts" song comes on--god forbid!
I have slowly eased the volume up throughout the day, but his still rises far above a courteous level.
Erin, do you have any clever ideas? You have some pretty weird people in your office, too :)
PS--Is AC/DC even work-appropriate music? I should think not...

DEE DEE DEE
So, on the way to work this morning on 35E south, this lady was in her fancy little Pontiac G6, and I watched her cut a truck off. I didn't think much of it. So, I was going faster than the both of them, so I caught up and kept passing them on their right (my exit was only a mile away). The Pontiac driver looks in her side mirror, sees me coming, and stays in her lane. This made me uneasy. She waits until im 2 FEET AWAY from her to merge over--no blinker, no 2nd look, she just went.
I slammed on my brakes, but I still hit her bumper pretty hard. When we pulled over, she asked me what we were supposed to do. She had to be about 30, but she was a skinny, blonde, spoiled princess--that was obvious. I told her that I wasn't going to call the police, because her car was MESSED UP, and mine doesn't even have so much as a paint mark. Not to mention the accident was 100% her fault, and she admitted she made a mistake. I told her that I was taking her name and license plates down, and if anything goes wrong with my car, I'd be contacting her.
Ya know, everybody gives me crap for my Saturn. "Oh, it's a Saturn, those suck" or my personal favorite, "oh, plastic car...." Well guess what, the plastic car kicked some ass this morning! I can't believe my luck, to not get a single mark on my car in my first car accident!
Not the best way to start my morning, on top of being late, but i'll manage.

My First Blog!
Okay, so I can't promise that i'll keep up with this. I am jealous of everyone having blogs...and what do I have? MYSPACE. Don't get me wrong, i love my myspace--it just seems like this is more grown up, for a change. I will probably post little surveys and such--I find them amusing. Also, I don't always use the best grammar, or any writing skills for that matter. This might drive Erin crazy :)
So, on Monday and Wednesdays I go to work 2 hours late, since I stay 2 hours later so I can go straight from Eagan to Edina for hockey games. Today, I was an IDIOT and miscalculated. I went to work an hour earlier than I meant to, and now here I sit--no work to do. All of my bosses have gone home, so there is nobody to assign me any other work. I'm not really sticking it to the man, though. What it boils down to, is that I do the crap paperwork that is annoying, time consuming, and people are too lazy to do. I simplify the jobs of others in this office.
In the copy room, this lady saw that I had 3 neat piles (consisting of well over 300 pieces of paper) going, one for invoices, one for packing lists, and one for arrival notices. It was very important that they stay in order in their correct piles. So, this lady walks up and starts sorting her invoices, ON TOP OF my piles, despite other table space. I politely picked up her pile, added to mine, and set her pile back where it was, thinking she would get the hint.
Yeah right.
I'm sure you can guess how this all ended. My papers sent all over the floor, some slid under the printers, mixed and matched, and got dirtied from the floor, etc. Her reaction? "Sorry, dear!", *walks away*.
SCREW YOU.
The best part? I spent 2 days last week doing NOTHING except for creating special billing sheets for her because she's such a sloppy worker that she keeps making errors, costing our company money. See what I mean by making other people's jobs easier? She's just lazy.
I like my job, overall. I work with some great people, and some not so great ones. It pays good!
